Message from Martha

Dear New Families,

The past couple of weeks have been filled with excitement! The Elementary School Leadership Club hosted their very first “Bake Swap” last week, with all proceeds being donated to women and children experiencing homelessness. We also had a wonderful STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) day, which was celebrated K-12 as New Roads immersed themselves in a number of activities related to these fields. From math activities to the science of bubbles, we had a blast!

Next week, we are excited to kick off Asian American Pacific Islander Month with celebrated chefs Roy Choi, Tue Nguyen and Jon Yao, who will share their experiences to inspire and deepen our students’ understanding of AAPI cultures in the culinary world. It won’t hurt that all of this will be followed by lunch with the Kogi Truck!

As we enter the busyness of May, the Elementary School will have plenty to do to keep our students and families connected, and the learning meaningful and relevant!

We hope to see you at Art Night tomorrow night, and wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!

Warmly,
Martha Champlin
Director of Elementary School
