Parent Village

The New Roads School Parent Village (our version of a PTA)  is a collaborative initiative led by parents, guardians and caregivers to partner with the administration and faculty to support the mission of the school through volunteer opportunities while embodying the principles of inclusivity, equity, kindness and integrity. Each Committee in the Parent Village aims to serve that mission through its specific focus of community building, fundraising, gratitude, community service, or communication of events. The goal of all Parent Village activities is to support the greater good of the students, faculty and staff through service.

All parents, guardians and caregivers of students enrolled at New Roads School are members of the Parent Village. The Parent Village Co-Facilitators are two parents nominated by the parent community and invited by the administration to support, coordinate, troubleshoot and oversee the volunteerism at New Roads School executed through its committees. All the chairs for these committees go through a similar nominating process each year.

  • Division Representatives - ES/MS/US

Mission statement: Division Representatives serve as vital liaisons between families, school administration, and Parent Village leadership across all grade levels. The mission of Division Representatives is to foster clear and timely communication, strengthen community connections, and support school-wide initiatives rooted in the values of inclusivity, equity, kindness, and integrity. By welcoming new families, actively listening to community needs, and encouraging parent involvement, Division Representatives create a collaborative and supportive environment that enhances the educational experience and sense of belonging for students, families, faculty, and staff throughout the entire New Roads community.

Each grade also nominates Grade Representatives (or Room Parents for ES) in the spring for the following school year, who meet with Division Reps at least monthly. New parents/guardians who want to serve in this role are encouraged to introduce themselves to Division Reps at the beginning of the school year and could be eligible to serve right away.

K-5 grades are unique in the ways parents are very hands on in the classroom with the teachers and administrators. Nominations and selection is therefore managed by the ES administration as it is intertwined with the pedagogy and ethos of each classroom.
