Speech & Debate Teams Score More Wins

Our Middle and Upper School continue to triumph, even as tournaments have shifted online. On December 12, the Middle School team debated the benefits and harms of social media and whether or not the US should close its military bases in Okinawa, Japan. Jonathan Melaku placed second out of 122 speakers. Sofia Locatelli placed 9th, Loran Woods placed 14th and Milo Rose placed 24th. Milo, Sofia, and Gemma Singer placed 7th out of 44 teams.

The Upper School team recently competed at the Costa Canyon tournament, and Liam Waldman placed 7th out of over 110 speakers and broke to the octo-final round in Lincoln Douglas Debate after three days of debate. Stella Robinson-Rosendorff and Gabriel Sims broke to Octofinals in Parliamentary debate. At November's Santa Clara tournament, Isabella Carbonari broke to the semi-final round in original oratory for her speech on what schools need to teach children.
