National Shakespeare Competition

At the end of February, Max Vadset represented New Roads High School in the Los Angeles Branch ESU Finals for the National Shakespeare Competition. Five students from the greater Los Angeles area earned a spot in the Los Angeles Branch Finals from the previous Semi-Final Competition. The finals determine who will represent the Los Angeles Branch of the ESU at the National Shakespeare Competition Finals, taking place remotely on April 5.

Max did extremely well, performing Sonnet 23 and "Puck" from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in addition to a cold reading. The level of talent even during these challenging times was refreshing. While Max will not be moving on to the National Finals, he did secure a long legacy of New Roads School earning a spot in the Los Angeles Branch Finals. Max's dedication to his craft and innate talents afforded him the opportunity to excel on the finals as well as to provide us with a moment to celebrate.
