Sophomore Cole Prawer Giving Back with The Imagine Music Project

Music has always been central 10th grader Cole Prawer’s life. He began composing songs when he was four years old, has played the piano since he was seven and released his first single and music video last year. Cole says, “The impact that lyrics and melodies have had on me is immeasurable. Because music has helped me grow, I wanted to give that to other kids who don’t have access to the same opportunities I have had.” Cole created The Imagine Music Project, with a mission is “to provide students with instruments that they can share in the magic of creating music.” He is identifying underfunded public schools that have band programs in place but are lacking sufficient instruments to meet the demands of their students. The Imagine Music Project’s first school partner is John Muir Middle School in South Los Angeles, where his mom taught early in her career
The Imagine Music Project’s fundraising goal is $10,000, and Cole and his family have already secured over $7,000 in donations. Cole aspires to expand The Imagine Music Project to include a music performance exchange between New Roads and the partnering schools to “build a community around music and show that music can bring people together."
