Five New Roads Students Receive Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Congratulations to 12th graders Fleurette Modica, Hana Kraus, Edie Trautwein and Sanna Legan, and to 10th grader Jace Flores, who have won Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Jace, Sanna, Edie and Hana were honored with Regional Awards, and Fleurette won six awards in total, including a National Award. Established in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s largest, longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing creative accomplishments of students in grades 7–12. In addition to the awards, winners have the chance to earn scholarships and have their work exhibited or published.

Edie says, "It is great to have my work recognized for a second year by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and I'm pleased that the many months I spent working on my art paid off." Fleurette agrees, saying, “It is an affirmation to have my writing recognized. Most of my submissions were humorous writings and this award inspires me to continue in this vein of writing.”
