Mixed Media Misfits Club Launches Website

Freshman Riko Nakamura wanted to step out of her comfort zone during her first year at New Roads and decided to start a student club on her own. “I was never a leader. To be honest, I was kind of a follower. This is a big step for me, trying new things,” she said. Inspired by her love of art, Riko founded Mixed Media Misfits with a goal of spreading creativity and encouraging artistic expression through all sorts of media, such as film, animation, comics, painting, sculpture and photography. The artwork the club members create is showcased in their colorful website, which was also built collaboratively by the students. Riko hopes that she can continue being a Mixed Media Misfits leader until her senior year and that the club will live on even after she graduates.
