10th Grader Teagan Burgess Honored in Filmmaker Showcase

Congratulations to Teagan Burgess (‘25) for being named a finalist in the Lift-Off Global Network’s First-Time Filmmaker Showcase. Teagan’s film, Best Regards, shares the tale of two estranged friends who come to terms with their broken friendship during a summer camp scavenger hunt..

Lift-Off's First-Time Filmmakers Showcase is a quarterly event that showcases and guides emerging talent from around the world. Held at the world-famous Pinewood Studios in the UK, the Showcase includes master classes with industry experts and a screening of each selected film. The event is a launchpad for the filmmakers, providing group and one-to-one feedback sessions, and the chance to win further screenings at our international film festivals. Best Regards was also selected to the YellowHammer Film Festival and the Sun Valley Junior Film Festival, where it was acknowledged with an honorable mention.

Teagan says, “I tried to develop a story that is relatable and explores the subtleties of teen friendships. My characters have to figure out how to communicate and navigate difficult emotions for the first time. I wanted to share something I've experienced myself. I didn't expect to be a finalist since this was my first film festival, so I was surprised to be recognized. I hope others can relate to my film and enjoy it.”
