The Los Angeles Mayor's Youth Council provides an unique opportunity for High School students across all fifteen council districts to learn about city government, develop leadership skills amongst peers and advocate for youth issues.
Neal's weekly commitment provides an opportunity to engage in leadership development through researching and debating important issues, special presentations to city leaders, field trips, and other group activities. Neal will focus his involvement in tech equity and open internet access for low-income youth in Los Angeles.
In being selected to the Los Angeles Mayor's Youth Council, Neal hopes to develop into an independent and assertive advocate for causes that he believes in. This experience will also further enhance his studentship and application of policy focused ideas in academic and debate settings.
"We are grateful to the New Roads team for the equal balance of teaching, encouragement and love bestowed upon us each day," says Neal's mother Christen.
