The New Roads School, in partnership with New Roads School’s founding organization, the New Visions Foundation, is creating a unique center that brings together in one location diverse elements of the education community – non-profit educational and service organizations, students and faculty – to foster creative collaborations that enhance education and enrich the community. Located in the heart of Santa Monica’s designated “mixed use creative” zone, and manifesting the City’s vision for innovation, The Herb Alpert Educational Village embodies a vision for education in the 21st Century – a model for shared resources, both physical and intellectual.
The Herb Alpert Educational Village is home to New Roads School’s middle and upper school campuses and to the Capshaw-Spielberg Center for Arts and Educational Justice. This “green” facility marks completion of Phase 1 of construction of the Educational Village and contains the state-of-the art 342-seat Ann and Jerry Moss Theater; offices for non-profit organizations working in the fields of education, the environment, and social justice; the Leadership Center (conference/meeting space); and classrooms for New Roads School. In addition to allowing enhanced programming for New Roads students, the new facility is a resource for the Los Angeles community. Subsequent phases of development will include a gymnasium, parking, and new classrooms and administrative offices for New Roads School.
