The Herb Alpert Educational Village
Inspired Education for an Evolving World

Admission Overview

Schools have tempos and rhythms. Some will have you tapping your feet; others will have you looking for the door. New Roads is not for everyone. Our community is culturally and economically diverse, our teachers enthusiastic, demanding and passionate, and our program challenging, intriguing and fun. Our standards are high, our demands rigorous, but not always "bookish" or textbook-driven. We believe young people learn far more effectively when asked to solve complex puzzles and reflect thoughtfully on their work than when asked simply to recall.

Admission to New Roads School is based upon our assessment of a young person’s ability to flourish in our educational program and an indication that both student and school community would benefit from his or her enrollment. As such, entry to New Roads is not simply a game of numbers. We welcome students from diverse backgrounds – students with a range and depth of interests, talents and enthusiasms.

    Giving at New Roads School

Providing a progressive education of the highest quality and ensuring its accessibility to a broad diversity of students is at the heart of the New Roads mission.

Like independent schools across the nation, New Roads depends on fundraising to sustain and strengthen its mission. It is an ongoing endeavor. We ask that all of our families join us in this community effort.

    Annual Fund
The Annual Fund runs during the fall and is New Roads’ first fundraising priority. It is the most significant contribution you can make to support our students.

Your contribution provides essential support for the school’s operating budget. It pays for the things that directly benefit your child every day; things that are an integral part of the New Roads experience. The Annual Fund allows us to offer competitive salaries to faculty, sustain and update existing curricula, maintain campus facilities and much more.

You will be asked to make a contribution to the Annual Fund at whatever level you are able. When you receive a call from one of our enthusiastic parent volunteers, please give generously. Your support makes the difference between a great program and an extraordinary one!

    Kaleidoscope Gala
Every spring the New Roads community joins together to celebrate the school and raise money for our programs at our annual parent-led event – the Kaleidoscope Gala. Combined with the Annual Fund, Kaleidoscope provides critical financial support to our school each year. This event is a fun and exciting evening when our families come together to support New Roads through sponsorship, the purchase of tickets, the live and silent auctions and Raise the Paddle.
