Ben Indeglia and Compton Robotics Featured in L.A. Parent

Class of 2018’s Ben Indeglia was recently featured in L.A. Parent’s The Many Faces of STEM. While Ben is a busy first-year engineering student at the University of Chicago, the organization that he co-founded, Compton Robotics, continues to make a tremendous impact in his hometown.

Three years ago, Ben and New Roads math teacher Danny Figueroa joined forces to bring a robotics program to Compton public schools. Thanks to their commitment, innovation and enthusiasm, the Compton Robotics Club has grown into a program that is changing hundreds of lives and helping to develop a 21st century workforce.

L.A. Parent emphasizes how Ben’s accomplishments have impacted the ongoing efforts to make STEM learning more accessible. Ben shared, “If you truly care about an issue, make a plan to actually do something about it. You would be surprised how people will get behind you if you show you have a plan and a commitment."
