New Roads School is a not-for-profit organization exempt from taxation under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  The founding mission of New Roads School recognizes the need to make quality education available to children representing the broad diversity of  Greater Los Angeles.  Throughout our fifteen-year history, the New Roads School community has joined together and built a Tradition of Giving to support, perpetuate, and expand our mission.

WE NEED THE SUPPORT OF EVERY HOUSEHOLD
 To meet our budgeted 2009-10 fundraising goal of $1,834,250

By making a tax-deductible donation to our Annual Giving Program (which runs from July 1st through June 30th every year), you support our Tradition of Giving with funds that go directly to your children’s classrooms, providing for faculty development, supplies and equipment that cannot be fully financed with tuition dollars.

Critically needed funds support:

  • arts
  • math/science
  • athletics
  • humanities
  • computers
  • modern languages
  • after school care
  • books
  • college financial aid
  • eco-literacy programs
  • college guidance
  • local field trips and transport
  • grade level trips
  • productions (drama/dance/music)
  • prom/dances

  • graduations
  • summer school
  • miscellaneous events
  • assemblies
  • testing
  • tutoring and special needs
  • independent study programs
  • faculty development

Why should you contribute to Annual Giving?

  • Tuition covers only 90% of the cost (operating budget) to educate a student; annual giving and other fundraising makes up the remaining 10%:
  • The Cost of a New Roads Education (per student)
    2009/2010 Tuition
    Gap between cost and full tuition
  • $ 29,900
    $ (27,100)
    $ 2,800

  • To fulfill our mission, including socio-economic diversity, The Board of Trustees and the Administration are committed to keeping tuition costs down. Annual Giving is a cost-effective way to fill the gap between operating budget expenses and tuition because Annual Giving contributions are tax deductible and tuition dollars are not.

Why can’t New Roads School lower the operating budget to reduce the revenue shortfall?

  • Approximately 72%. of the operating budget is salaries, benefits, and professional development, To maintain and recruit exemplary faculty, New Roads School must be able to compete at the local and national level with other educational institutions.  Other significant costs include financial aid, technology upgrades, and maintenance of the school’s facilities and grounds.
