New Roads School is a fully accredited K – 12 college-preparatory independent educational community set on three campuses in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Malibu, California. All three campuses enjoy easy access to the scenic and cultural richness of Los Angeles County. Students travel to school via public bus and car pools.

New Roads School was established in 1995 as a model for education in an ethnically, racially, culturally, and socio-economically diverse community. New Roads began as a middle school program with 70 students and has grown in both directions each year thereafter. We now serve over 650 students representing the kaleidoscope of communities that make up Los Angeles. Unique among independent schools, no less than 40% of the New Roads School tuition budget is devoted to need-based financial aid every year, enabling us to provide financial assistance to more than 50% of our families. Over the past 15 years, New Roads has dedicated approximately $60 million to financial aid.

Entering our sixteenth year, we look back with pride at our growth and accomplishments, but more importantly, we look forward to the next phase of our growth with renewed commitment to our founding ideals. School opens this year with the long-awaited consolidation of our Santa Monica Middle School and High School campuses, and with construction underway on the initial phases of redevelopment of the High School site as Phase I of The Herb Alpert Educational Village. A joint venture between New Roads School and the New Visions Foundation, the Village will bring together various entities from the greater Los Angeles area dedicated to educational research, reform, and excellence, in order to incubate, pioneer and implement educational best practices. We embark upon this exciting new adventure with pride in the rich diversity of our school community and all that it can contribute as a model for education in our ever-evolving world.
